Brydon English Language Institute is a division
of the University of North America, a graduate institution which
awards degrees in
business and technology. To enter
the graduate program at the University of North America without
conditions on their admission, students must meet one of the following
requirements:
- Internet-based TOEFL-IBT score of 80
- Computer-based TOEFL score of 213
- Paper-based TOEFL score of 550
- IELTS score of 6.0.
- Four years of secondary schooling AND an undergraduate degree
BOTH through the medium of English.
The English language bridge program at UoNA is for students who
do not meet the minimum TOEFL-IBT admissions requirement (TOEFL-IBT
score of 80). Students who score 70-79 on their TOEFL - IBT exam
may enter the bridge program as a condition of their admission
to UoNA. Conditionally admitted graduate students are required
to take developmental English classes along with their degree
granting classes. These developmental classes will be held two
days a week for a total of six instructional hours per week for
12 week period.
Brydon English Language Institue offers its own in-house TOEFL-IBT
test. In order to be conditionally admitted to the graduate program,
a student must score a minimum of 60 or better on BELI's TOEFL-IBT
exam. All students are also required to have a minimum score of
15 from each skill level. Students who do not achieve a total
score of 60 or better or who do not score above 15 in any skill
level must be enrolled in the full-time English as a Second Language
course of study at the Brydon English Language Institue.
A student who has completed, at least, the upper-intermediate
and the advanced levels in the full-time English as a Second Language
course of study at the Brydon English Language Institute will
be admitted into UoNA' s bridge program without the requirement
of taking the TOEFL-IBT exam.
Students who have not taken the TOEFL-IBT test in their countries
prior to their admission will have the option to take the Brydon
English Language Institute's TOEFL-IBT exam. The in-house exam
assesses the following skills: reading, writing, listening and
speaking. There will be a $25.00 fee for placement testing.
